Did We Just Find the Perfect Pants for Travel? - Gear Patrol

What makes one pair of pants travel better than another? Our answer is undeniably subjective, but we think it's a good one: the ideal pair of travel pants should be comfortable enough for hours on a plane, durable enough to hit the ground running on arrival, and stylish enough to stroll into a meeting (if that's where you're running). It might sound like too much to ask for, but Telluride-based Western Rise has done it before and is doing it again with its new Diversion Pant.

The Diversion follows the standard Western Rise set with its Slim Rivet Pant, which made our list of the best travel pants available (and about which one staffer wrote, "These are the pants that Tony Stark would design and wear.") Featuring a four-way stretch fabric, the pants are soft on the inside but workwear-durable and water-repellent on the outside.

Western Rise also built the Diversion with a slim taper that conceals all this practicality in a layer of taste that says, "These are my nice pants." And with that, the last box in our travel pant criteria earns its check.

Posted: 11 Feb 2020 08:18 AM PST

Trust us.

Sometimes, all you want to wear to work is yoga pants. But unless you're a fitness instructor, this typically isn't an option. However, there are a few genius brands that have taken it upon themselves to create work-appropriate pants that rival the comforts of stretchy leggings—and we love them for it.

M.M. LaFleur, known for its comfortable, practical, and stylish wardrobe essentials, just released a collection of work-ready clothes that feel as good as they look. Among the latest arrivals is The Horton Pant, a sleek pair of pants made of machine-washable wool twill and elastane for a luxe look that's easy to wear and care for. The fully lined pants feature a high waistline and just the right amount of flare at the hem, which is a welcome break from tight cigarette trousers.

With this elevated silhouette, you'll look as powerful as you feel when you're crushing it at work. The pants pair well with a classic blazer, a blouse, or even a casual T-shirt, so you can style them however you like. In short, they just might be the perfect work pants.

They're available in black if you're looking for a pair of pants to go with anything in your wardrobe and a rich bordeaux shade if you're feeling like adding a pop of color to your work staples. Both sophisticated colors are available in sizes 0P to 16, and if you're unsure of which size to choose, you can quickly contact one of M.M. La Fleur's stylists via instant chat or email to figure out your perfect fit.

If you're ready to upgrade your work wardrobe, head to M.M. LaFleur to invest in a pair of these confidence-inducing pants.

12 Best Men's Corduroy Pants in 2020 - GQ

Posted: 31 Jan 2020 12:00 AM PST

So, it's another bitingly cold winter day. You haul your aching bones out of bed, shiver your way half awake to the café on the corner, and decide—what the hell—you deserve a damn treat. "Not my regular today, my man," you declare to the barista, as if he has any idea who you are. "I'd like a mocha." And man oh man, that mocha! You haven't had one since college, when you were still tricking yourself into liking coffee, and it's rich and warm and fills your whole body with joy, and you're immediately ready to head out there and own the day. Men's corduroy pants are the mochas of the style world—only they don't cost quadruple the price of an Americano, so you can afford to wear them everyday.

The rest of that very dumb analogy holds true, though: cords are an absolute heavenly treat for your lower half. Cozier than your jeans, miles more comfortable than your wool trousers, and a worthy substitute for either of those staples. And right this moment, there's an excess of shiny, hardy, easy-wearing corduroy pants out there to get excited about pulling on everyday from now till June. If you've got legs and any semblance of style, here are a dozen men's corduroy pants to consider copping right away.

The Best Everyday Corduroy Pants

Alex Mill rugged cord pleated pant

Alex Mill—the New York label that's functionally a reunion tour for the team behind J.Crew's #menswear golden age—is all about making everyday staples so intuitively wearable you could get dressed in the dark and still emerge looking pretty darn good. Their signature trousers are probably the most fully realized representation of that goal: with a subtle single pleat and a slightly relaxed fit, they feel very 2020 and totally timeless all at once. This latest iteration, done up in hardy medium-weight corduroy, is easily the handsomest and most versatile they've dropped yet.

The Best Colossal Corduroy Pants

Goodfight Letter cord pant (was $475, 50% off)

We're living in an age of BIG pants, and everything about this pair is larger than life. The wales are wider than the Mississippi, and the silhouette is so voluminous it's practically bordering on JNCO territory. That might sound a tad clownish on paper, but in person they're irrefutably beautiful and surprisingly elegant—proof that more sometimes really is more. Tuck in a simple tee or cashmere sweater, then sit back and let the pants do all the talking.

The Best Workwear Corduroy Pants

Dickies x J.Crew corduroy work pants

At this stage, we really shouldn't really have to explain the merits of the Dickies 874 to you anymore. They're the Chuck Taylors of pants: dependable, affordable, universally beloved. Our only real wish was that they came in a wider range of fabrics—and, well, now they do. Thanks to a collaboration with J.Crew, the classic straight-leg cut has been decked out in a thin-wale cord, bringing a welcome touch of softness and texture to the toughest pants around.

The Best Office-Ready Corduroy Pants

Raey tapered-leg cotton blend corduroy trousers (was $354, 40% off)

Raey, the in-house line at Matches Fashion, has more of a distinct point of view than most of its algorithmically-designed private label competitors. The brainchild of designer Rachael Proud, its wares are flowy and minimal, the kind of clothes a skateboarder might wear to an office job. Case in point: these clean-lined cords, which are refined enough for a big meeting or a dinner date, but still chill enough to hang in all weekend with a hoodie and sneakers.

The Best (Elevated!) Everyday Corduroy Pants

Evan Kinori single pleat pant

Everything we love about the Alex Mill joints up top, Evan Kinori's cords deliver at a slightly higher level. The baggyish-but-still-tapered fit is similar, but even more flattering; the fabric is a little heftier, with a little more character; and the whole thing is meticulously handcrafted in California. The catch, of course, is that the Kinori version clocks in at three times the price—but if you've got the funds, it's worth the upgrade.

The Row has your answer. Meticulously tailored in Italy, with a splash of plush cashmere in the mix, these trousers—like everything from the Olsens' ultra-luxe label—are immaculate, uncomplicated, and entirely uncompromising.
