RIHANNA FOR RIVER ISLAND AD CAMPAIGN

Hmmm ok. This is a late review but like most of y'all fashion fiends I was eagerly anticipating the live stream of Rihanna's River Island collection on Saturday, February 16th. First of all, I'm a fan of River Island and always keep their pieces in my mix of clothing faves and of course, no suprise here, Rihanna is a recurring face on JBSTYLEZONE so I'm a Rihanna fan; hence I was very excited about this union. My thoughts on the show? The models grossed me out...The clothes?? I don't hate it. There were a few pieces I could have done without like the very 'Baywatch' high cut red one piece swimsuit. Knowing Rihanna's style I thought she'd have some graphic print on it or even an expletive or a weed leaf, that would have been a little more interesting or at least controversial. I also could have done without the mullet(hi-low) dress. I just feel like that was very 2012 and had no business being in her collection, leave that to the Jenner girls. I didn't hate the fact, in fact I loved the fact, that the line was not this high fashion super edgy, "cyaa wear"(can't be worn) line. Well it is River Island so it wasn't going to be over the top and she did say it was going to be casual and edgy, words I frequently use to describe my own line, so I could appreciate its "edgy simplicity"(don't steal that). Belly baring, thigh high splits very Rihanna-esque so she stayed true to herself. Although it was clearly a throwback to the 90's grunge era (but not as messy), instead of floral I wish she used a "bomb ass" print for the tops with matching shorts. I was definitely not mad at that, I'm a sucker for the matching top and bottom look. It's clearly not a line for everyone, just like only Rihanna could get away with some of the things she wears, so make sure you have the attitude to pull it off. With all that said I walked away from this live stream wanting a few pieces(not sure if that means I'll actually buy, will decide when I see prices lol) but still craving that 'OMG' piece or even a few of those that I felt was missing. I'm sure it will be sold out once the prices aren't ridiculous for these easy going looks. The collection will actually be released on March 5th so I'll give a follow up review then.
