Race Bait 308

Today, we'll look at the restoration of a 1978 Hot Wheels model, the Race Bait 308. My brother gave me this beat up car quite a while ago and I finally decided to work on it.

The original wheels were toast so I used a set of 5-spoke wheels taken from a '69 Ford Mustang Boss 302.

Note the suspension system on this car. It is quite similar to that used on cheap Kidco or Yatming castings. I was quite surprised to see it on a HW model.

At least there is no corrosion on the body.

I cleaned up the glass using the method recommended by baremetalHW on Youtube and it works like a charm:

Ferrari 308 GTBs are commonly found in red, black, silver or yellow. Since I already have a red and a silver Race Bait, I chose yellow.

I added a clear coat. Not too happy with the result and I think it's time I stopped using cheap spray cans to paint my models.

Together with her sisters. The red one is a 1978 Flying Colors model. The silver one is from the 1982 The Hot Ones series.
